The United States Government is committed to providing information on its programs and services to the American public; one way in which it does this is through the Federal Depository Library Program.  Bailey Library is one of nearly 1,400 libraries throughout the United States to be designated a depository library and receive regular shipments of select federal documents.  more...

We have been part of this program since 1966 and currently collect nearly 30% of all available documents.

Many of the government documents in our collection are accessible through the library catalog or by using Marcive Web Docs, a commercially produced database available from the library's home page.  The Government Document staff or the Reference Librarian can provide assistance in using these tools.  Most of the print documents in our collection are housed on the third floor, as are the offices of the Government Documents staff.  In accordance with government regulations, the collection is open and accessible to any member of the public.

Given the cyber age in which we live, most current government information is now available electronically.  Many of these electronic documents are directly linked from our catalog.  GPO Access is the official federal government portal that provides subject access to thousands of government web sites.

Bailey Library is also a selective depository for documents from the Pennsylvania State Government.  This collection, which contains such items as the state budget and various agency reports and statistics, is much smaller than the federal collection.  Records for this collection are also found in the library catalog.
