Library Mission Statement
Bailey Library supports the mission of Slippery Rock University by developing collections and services that make the Library integral to the learning process, both within and beyond the classroom. The library exists to provide leadership, vision and coordination for collaborative activities that support and add value to every campus program. The library provides services and training in the areas of preservation of collections and archival materials, information literacy, and distance education through the application of technology. In so doing, the library strives to:
- Anticipate and respond to the changing educational environment
- Promote resources and services to meet the intellectual and academic needs of students, faculty, staff and administration
- Promote information literacy among the university community as a necessary prerequisite to success in an increasingly complex information environment
- Incorporate state-of-the-art technology resources to extend collections and services beyond the physical walls of the library
- Provide off-site access to information resources and services for all campus and community constituents
- Provide virtual library services state-wide to extend both the service and expertise of information professionals
- Leverage costs by participating in consortia agreements for purchasing print and electronic resources
