IU1 Personnel Request System:Website

Project Details

The Intermediate Unit 1 Personnel Request System was developed to replace a two-paged form and the ineffeciencies that came along with it. The paper version of this process often left those involved frustrated or the form itself lost. The process required at least 5 individuals to sign off on the request, and often times the form would get misplaced or an individual would not act on the request in a timely manner.

With the new system in place, Human Resources officials had access to a log of activity on each request. The supervisor or department director was able to receive updates on the current stage of the request. If the request was ultimately approved, the information was already in a secure digital format, which could be easily imported into the organization's Personnel Records database and related systems.

My responsibility on the project included designing the backend of the database to interact with the already existing FileMaker database servers; ensuring the system met the business goals of the organization; designing a simple user interface; and integrating the system into the already existing and custom-built intranet site (the iuWeb Portal).
